My MIL always told me to stop harvesting rhubarb when it got hot because the stalks got bitter. I didn't know I could keep harvesting all season! Good tips- I look forward to your others!

-Jami
An Oregon CottageJami @ An Oregon Cottagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17667526972866583695noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1678888033050865485.post-29739565634512715032011-03-16T18:37:07.854-07:002011-03-16T18:37:07.854-07:00Sounds like rhubarb wouldn't be too fond of ou...Sounds like rhubarb wouldn't be too fond of our summers down here. That rhubarb has spread, and gotten enormous, making a real focal spot on the side of a barn area at their home. It pretty much gets mostly neglected out there, but carries on very nicely on its own!Athena at Minerva's Gardenhttp://www.minervasgarden.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1678888033050865485.post-50273671238397523042011-03-15T22:35:36.488-07:002011-03-15T22:35:36.488-07:00I'm so jealous! I am sure it's because I prefer stuff that takes care of itself (cats instead of dogs, children that brush their own teeth) and I usually "get things going" in the spring and then fall off the wagon and start to ignore. Therefore, rhubarb's resistance to bugs and tolerance for drought are okay, because I water my garden...hmmm...maybe twice a week? No wonder the tomato plants wither up and die! (This is not a new revelation. It's something I try to remedy every year.) Maybe someday I'll get a clue, prioritize my time, and start nurturing my plants!Rebeccahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11984051442829190188noreply@blogger.com
